Christians Reject "Palestine" for the Promised Land of Israel

By David Ben-Ariel I remember taking issue with The Philadelphia Trumpet magazine's frequent use of the term "Palestine" when they were referring to the Holy Land of Israel. Both Gerald Flurry, editor-in-chief of The Philadelphia Trumpet, and his son, Stephen Flurry were guilty of using the loaded term of "Palestine." Gerald Flurry quoted Shmuel Schnitzer lamenting the new Jewish people who are "preparing to deny our [Jewish] rights, both the divine promise and in terms of REFERRING TO THE LAND BY THE NAME OF ITS PEOPLE, "The Land of Israel' -- a land which belongs to the Children of Israel, from then and to eternity..." [emphasis mine] and then, himself, continues in "Israel's Lost Vision" blind to his own hypocrisy, "Let's look back at Palestine's recent history." Yes, let's look at what name GOD gave the land as an inheritance of all Twelve Tribes of Israel. GOD named it after our patriarch ISRAEL. Satan inspired the Romans to mock God and dishonor our Father by attempting to erase Israel's name off the map! "They have said, 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more'" (Psalms 83:4). Why join with the enemies of God and Israel? Why give credence to an ILLEGITIMATE name? God forbid Israel ever becomes "Palestine"! Since I truly believe they wanted to go by the Bible, I encouraged them to do so and properly refer to the Land of Israel by its GOD ORDAINED NAME -- Israel! In fact, I made a public issue of it only after I saw they persisted in their error by writing "An Open Letter to Stephen Flurry Concerning 'Palestine'" in the November/December 1996 issue of The National Messenger. It appears they now refer to "Judah" or "Israel (biblical Judah)" instead of the accursed "Palestine." Hallelujah! Caring for Your Mexican Clay Chiminea

By Benni Jenyfari A Mexican clay chiminea is a beautiful and practical addition to any backyard garden or patio. Clay chimineas are a beautiful and affordable way to be able to enjoy your outdoor living space, even when the air is nippy. By learning to care for your chiminea properly, you can ensure that it will have a long and problem-free life with your family. Transporting a Clay Chiminea
A chiminea is made up of two parts the bowl, where the fire is made, and the chimney-like neck. The stack of a clay chiminea is usually attached to the bowl with only a thin layer of clay, which means that you should never lift the chiminea by its top. You can easily break your chiminea in half that way. Instead, be sure to always carry the chiminea around the base or better yet, use a hand truck or cart to do your moving for you. Seasoning Your Mexican Chiminea
If youve just bought a new clay chiminea, your first reaction might be to run home, build a big fire, and start enjoying it! However, the clay of your Mexican fireplace requires seasoning to prepare it for a long life of cooking. To season a new chiminea, build a small fire with fat wood, and allow it to burn out on its own and cool completely before lighting another fire. This hardens the clay gradually, sealing the inside of the fireplace and preventing cracks and hot spots. Use this process for the first five to ten fires you light. Protecting your Chiminea from the Elements
Chiminea clay is usually not fired, but rather simply painted. This means that in its bare state, it is vulnerable to water. In order to prevent rain damage to your Mexican fireplace, apply a sealant to the outside of your chiminea as soon as possible after purchase. Acrylic floor finish and wood sealants are good choices that will protect both the clay and the paint of your fireplace. Clay chimineas may also crack or shatter if they are left out in the cold. Unless you live in a temperate climate, it is a good idea to store your chiminea in a garage or spare closet any time there is a danger of freezing. By taking proper care of your Mexican chiminea, you can ensure the longest life and the most value for your money possible. For more information on Clay Mexican Chiminea and outdoor heating go to

How to be Successful at Online Dating

By Ron Zvagelsky With such a fast-paced world, dating has been set to the next level. But no matter how quick you convert chats and private messaging into real life dates, online relationships can absolutely turn into something steady and serious. If you are ready to plunge into the world of online dating, here are some tips to make you successful in your feat: Work on Your Profile
If someone were looking for a date online, whether through chat or MySpace, your profile would be the first thing that he or she would check out. Avoid writing about negative things in your profile a positive aura always attracts people in a good way. Be creative and clever in creating your profile. Also, try to comparing yourself with someone famous or a movie character so as to paint a picture of your personality. Picture Perfect
Try to post your best picture. Posting pictures of cartoon characters or celebrities instead of your own can give the impression that you are trying to be someone that you are not. Dont Rush Things
Dont arrange for a meet-up right away. Take time to get to know your would-be date either on chat or through private messaging (a week or so would do). If you can, get his/her cellphone number so that you can call or text them whenever either of you goes offline. Your previous conversations with them can make things easier when you decide to go out on a real date. Be Consistent
There are some people that you share a good first conversation with. The key to honing an online relationship is constant communication. See to it that you send a message to your someone on a regular basis. Remember that there are probably hundreds of other people that he/she is chatting with, so make a move to let him/her know youre still interested! Although dating in the online world is in such a hurried state, you should not be. Take time to get to know a person and share something about yourself as well. If you both hit it off on the internet, chances are you may be compatible offline as well. Now thats something to look forward to. Ron Zvagelsky has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2006. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of PlanJam an interactive website offering dating advice and helping you plan a date. How To Buy Your First Sewing Machine

By Mary Wilkins There are many brands of machines out there and everyone boasts different features. Some machines appeal to quilters, others want you to embroider everything including the toilet seat and the shower curtain. Searching for the right machine is going to take some time. Shopping for a new machine can make your head spin. The girls on my boards discuss which machine is best every time someone needs a new one. We all know the name brands but I am not going to suggest one, that decision is yours. It's a personal one and an important one. I will, however give you a few basic questions you should ask yourself. 1. What type of sewing do you plan to do?
- clothing
- crafts
- repairs and alterations
- home decorating 2. Where will you sew?
- sewing room
- kitchen table
- integrated into other family living area 3. How will your machine be stored?
- in its own cabinet
- in a closet hiding behind the coats
- leave it out to sew every spare moment 4. Consider your budget and buying habits? How long will you keep this machine?
- 6 months
- a few years
- forever and a day When you answer these questions, you are on your way to making the right decision. Obviously if you are going to sew from the kitchen table, you don't want a machine with lots of accessories or add-ons that will take up too much room. If you are doing repairs and alterations, you don't want a machine that duplicates the quilting stitch. If you have small children around, your machine needs to be tucked away safely. Just a few things to think about. Research is the name of the game here. Check out the latest consumer reports. Visit the forum discussions on sew-whats-new.com and see what the girls are using. They will gladly tell you what works and what doesn't. Another source is the well known sewing magazines. Sew News and Threads do comparison studies all the time. If you are lucky enough to have local dealers, pay them all a visit. Test drive all their machines and ask lots and lots of questions. Take fabric with you that you use and test out things like stitch length, reverse and some of the different presser feet. Find out about lessons. Lots of dealers will give you a few free lessons to get you acquainted with your machine. Above all, take your time. I cannot stress this enough. Don't let anyone rush you thru the process. Leave the kids at home so you have no distractions. While you are in the shop asking questions, you can see how the staff relate to customers and if they have the answers to all your questions. If they seem impatient or brusque, imagine how they might be after the sale. If they are not helpful now at the prospect of a sale, they probably won't be later if you need help. On the other hand, a strong sales pitch can also steer you in the wrong direction. Paying for a top of the line model doesn't mean you are getting the machine you will be happiest with. You must resist the urge for that impulse buy. Go home and talk to someone who sews. Find out their experiences and listen to what they have to say. Again, take your time with this decision. If you have visited all the dealers, and test driven their machines visit them all again. Visit again when you are rested and can make a clear decision. Go back and take a second look at those machines. You are looking at them with new eyes now. Maybe there are a few things you never noticed the first time that stand out now. What about that foot pedal, is it comfortable? Do you want the even feed feature? Does the machine run smoothly and quietly? Are there more programmes than you will ever use? If so, make a mental note and you can scale down your possible choices. This second visit will tell you more than you expect. Ask about the warranty that comes with each machine. Be sure you know who is responsible for standing behind it, your dealer or the manufacturer. Are repairs made locally or will you have to pack everything up and send it away. Be very sure you understand what is included with the sewing machine. Which feet, how many bobbins and what about a manual. The manual is very important. You will refer to the manual time after time so it should be a good reference guide to all the accessories and stitch designs along with any other functions. The manual should be full of pictures and diagrams for the basic sewing as well as clear directions. If your manual isn't helpful, do you want to go searching out the answers every time you have a problem. I wish I had a penny for every time someone has emailed me with a problem that their manual doesn't answer. Be sure you get your sales agreement in writing and keep your copy in a safe place. Nothing less will do. The bottom line is you must do some work before you ever sew your first stitch. If you make the effort and educate yourself, the rewards of a great sewing machine are yours. Mary Wilkins has three grown children and six perfect grandchildren. Completely self taught, she has been sewing, and crafting for over 30 years. Her website http://www.sew-whats-new.com has been recognized in many sewing magazines and newsletters alike. Verbena Pure Essential Oil

By Michael Russell While the lemon verbena is native to South America, the Spaniards introduced this shrub to Europe in the eighteenth century. The Spaniards were growing it for the perfume oil scent. Today, this aromatic plant is cultivated for its leaves and ornamental appeal. Due to the inefficient process of extracting the oil from its leaves, the cost of verbena oil is relatively expen ve. Because of this expense, verbena pure essential oil is rarely used in bath products, such as bath salts and bath soaps. It is mainly used in top of the line, high quality, and expensive perfumes. The therapeutic properties of verbena pure essential oil help to ease exhaustion, relieve anxiety, and boost concentration. The main constituents in verbena essential oil are limonene, geraniole, cineole, and citral, which is up to 26% of the oil itself. These constituents give lemon verbena a very strong antibacterial, antiseptic, and antispasmodic effects. Here is an extra tip. If you are looking to purchase pure verbena essential oil, be careful to ensure it is pure. Due to the expensive nature of this oil, it is often found stretched, or diluted, with the less expensive lemongrass oil, which of course will greatly diminish the therapeutic properties of the oil. You can buy the stretched verbena oil, just do not pay for the price of pure verbena oil. One of the major conditions verbena pure essential oil can help with is insomnia. Verbena helps to promote relaxation. It is this effect, which is useful for easing stress related sleep disorders. All you need to do is add 3 drops each of verbena and lavender oil to your bedside diffuser. Then it's lights out! Like many of the citrus oils out there, verbena is a great room freshener. Mix 10 drops of verbena oil with 2 ounces of water, preferably distilled if you have some, and store in a spray bottle. Then just spray around the house, and even on sheets and pillows to help remove the stale odors. If you are pregnant, this oil should be used with caution. Midwives to start, or trigger, contractions, once relied upon verbena essential oil. This oil is still associated with uterine muscle stimulation. Some also believe this oil will increase a woman's stamina, which is well needed, during delivery. Just be sure to take precautions and do your research before using this oil if you are pregnant. Also, verbena essential oil may irritate the skin. Even when the oil is diluted with a carrier oil, such as safflower oil, there may still be some irritations due to the sensitivity of your skin. Before applying a mixture of verbena and a carrier oil, apply it to small spot on your skin to see of irritations will occur. If not, massage away, but, as always, use this oil with caution. Due to the expensive nature of verbena pure essential oil, you may never have the chance to experience the true therapeutic properties but, you can still enjoy the aroma of this oil with some of the expensive perfumes. Just ask if verbena oil is one of the oils in the perfume. You can also enjoy the aroma by using one of the "stretched" blends, which is still somewhat beneficial.

The Credentials of Any Good San Diego Criminal Defense Lawyer

By Bill Nimmo The hallmark credentials that you want to see when hiring a San Diego criminal defense lawyer on a serious felony charge are pretty much the same for a criminal defense lawyer anywhere. When you are charged with a serious felony in a state court system where your exposure is many years in prison you dont want someone practicing or dabbling on your matter. You want a consummate talented and respected professional that regularly handles the type of criminal charge that you are charged with. The bottom line is that you want a lawyer with a winning reputation. The profile that makes up that type of lawyer consists of a number of characteristics. You want a lawyer that is well educated. While the law school a lawyer went to isnt necessarily the characteristic that makes the difference, the better law schools produce lawyers who understand the theory of the law better which makes them better able to make arguments that persuade judges. You also want a lawyer who has a good presence and who is respected in the courts. The more respected your lawyer is, the better he will be able to negotiate, win critical motions, and get rulings favorable to your case. A good lawyer who is respected in his community will be respected anywhere he or she goes to handle a case. The prosecutors and the judges get the picture quickly by the way the lawyer handles themselves. You want a lawyer who has been practicing many years if your case is a serious felony such as murder, vehicular manslaughter, forcible rape, or child molestation. The more years a lawyer has practiced means that he or she has handled more situations, more cases, and more trials. That combined experience means that they will be able to analyze your case quicker and with more accuracy than a lesser experienced lawyer. Years of experience means they know all the moves and how to implement them effectively at the right moment. Make sure your lawyer has successfully handled many cases of the type of charge you have. If you are charged with murder, for instance, you want a lawyer who has handled and tried several murder cases. A top gun lawyer should be able to cite several examples of jury trial results and favorable settlements in the type of case you have. There is no reason not to hire a lawyer with a long record of winning. Every lawyer has won a case or two. You want the lawyer with a long list of successful results. In every major community in this country competent skilled professionals exist who are capable of getting you the best results. A little work trying to find one will be worth the effort. If you throw your money away on someone who isnt up to the task you wont find out until it is too late. You can always change lawyers but you may have spent all of your resources. Major Tip: Dont ask people to refer you to a good lawyer. You may just be getting a friend or a business referral. Ask people: Who are the five or ten best San Diego criminal defense lawyers to handle a serious state court felony trial case? You will likely get a list of great lawyers. The good lawyers will all talk to you and you will be able to see the difference and choose who you are most comfortable with and can afford. William F. Nimmo is a highly regarded San Diego criminal defense lawyer who
has successfully defended residents statewide for nearly three decades. He
has been a San Diego criminal trial lawyer of the year and has been awarded

The Value of Tin Toys

By Arturo Ronzon Tin toys are the thing of the past but like all things of the past, they carry certain values into the future. For tin toys, they carry more than just nostalgic memories of innocent childhood spent winding up the favorite tin robot or chasing around with friends wielding tin pistols. Tin toys of the past that still exists in the present also carry monetary value. Tin toys nowadays are considered collectors items and are sought after by many toy collectors. To get a good price on an old tin toy, it must be in pristine condition. If the tin toy comes with the original box, then the value goes up even further. Just to give you an idea of how much a tin toy in good shape can sell for, we will take the Doing the Howdy Doody tin toy as an example. The Howdy Doody tin toy comes with a lithographed tin wind-up piano and a band consisting of Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob. Howdy Doody dances and stands at 8 tall while Buffalo Bob sits at the piano measuring 7 tall. This whole set if available in mint condition with the box can fetch a cool $2000 or more. Dont get carried away with thinking that every tin toy will fetch a price like the Howdy Doody toy though as most of the tin toys owned by people would have some wear and tear because it was played with. Nobody expected that an innocent looking toy would end up being collectibles in the future. It is not all about money though. Some people are not interested in selling their old tin toys because of the nostalgic value that the toys hold. If you own a tin toy that was your favorite while you were a kid, chances are the toy would be pretty worn out by now. The good news is that you can take that favorite tin toy to a professional and have it restored to its glory days. Experts in tin toy restoration can knock out the dents, smooth the scratches and even replace missing parts. The color will also be restored so that the toy is as good as new. Tithing

By Sebastian Foss Most Christians crave for blessings from God in every area - spiritual, financial, academic, physical, family, business, ministry, etc. God knew this before hand and therefore designed a system through which His faithful children can have access to continuous blessings. That way, ironically is not popular. It is still under heavy debate and individual manipulation. That way is tithing. Tithe, according to Genesis 28:22, is a tenth or ten percent of whatever God gives to you. It is a tenth of your income, profit or increase. It may be in your hands and subject to your manipulations, yet Numbers 18:24-28 and 2 Chronicles 31:12 say it belongs to God. Tithe is not yours. It is Heaven's property in your hands which should immediately be taken to the house of the Lord, and kept together with other dedicated things. Many Christians will never steal anything from the church because they know they are consecrated or set apart for God's use. They know anyone who steals from the church, is cursed and will face divine judgement from God Himself. Yet, these same Christians do not mind eating their tithes. But it is the same two and two pence. Your tithe is part of the dedicated things of God. It should not stay long wit li you but should immediately be taken to where it belongs - the house of God Anyone who spends tithes is actually stealing from the temple and invoking Gods judgement. But worse than stealing other dedicated things from the churrli. spending your tithe, robs the church of something of value. According to our article of today, tithes are meant to support pastors and ministers of God, and expand the Kingdom of God. Each tithe you spend, robs a minister of God of his salary, denies the church the means to further the spread of the Gospel of the Kingdom, and limits the expansion of God's Kingdom. Each tithe you refuse to pay puts someone into suffering. You cannot effectively quantify the negative effects of your refusal to pay the tithes. How can you be blessed when you have caused much suffering and sorrow to God's servants? No wonder God calls such a person a robber. Are you a tither? Or do you tithe at your convenience? Repent today and restitute your ways. Women Sufferings and Infidelity

By Sadashivan Nair Her dreams of marriage and collected marriage values disintegrate when she finds her husband/partner is sharing with others what was meant for her. The partner is her/his own property and dignity that she does not want to loose. Her man for her is everything, whatever kind he is, she manages and sacrifices to get along as long as he is honest and dependable. Infidelity by her man is attack on her marital status and is suicidal for her: She looses the trust and dependability; who would she trust when own man has cheated. She is devastated sensitively and mentally. She leads her tensed life with grieving emotions would be enough to develop mental and physical deceases. Both partners believe sexual partner as a personal valuable asset that demonstrates dignity and pride. A sexual partner is most valued partner becomes own dignity thus loosing partner is loosing dignity. Unfaithfulness of the partner is an insult to the personal values. So the matter becomes unbearable and embarrassment if partners sexual attraction goes into others hands is shameful and loosing self-respect. Her financial and other security is at risk. For a woman, her male partner is her security and safety. In addition, for a woman who is dependent, her man is the economic security. Her man shares her necessities, burdens, takes responsibilities of her, and kids. When he is there she is totally worry free. Loss of the best and emotional friend/partner she got. She, as she wished could share with partner her sentiments, anger, sorrow and everything of her was for her mental relief, what she cannot share with unknown. So is an emotional attack on her. For a woman it is pride when her man is around her. Absence of the partner results loneliness, which she would hate more than anything. Loneliness exists when is unable to share personal thoughts and sentiments with reliable person, is like killing self. She/he is not worried of her/his relation out side marriage rather what worries him/her is loosing emotional attachment woven during the whole episode. So more than the security she looses the emotional values she possessed and shared. Security is for survival and emotional attachment is for the energy she needs for existence. That is why women feel totally distressed when her man deceives. For a man his woman is his dignity and for a woman her man is her dignity and identity. Her man is her identity as father of her children. Her man is her identity as her security. Living and sharing together is attachment of both souls they unknowingly build. Feeling of oneness contributes to energetic atmosphere. Feeling of meant for each other with who can fight, love, share, capitulate, expect, involve sentimentally and etc; all attachments are disintegrated when one cheats. Woman is more touching as uses heart more than the brain to visualize so is intolerable for her that her man shares his life with other woman too. Infidelity is psychological syndrome created by attraction of the opposite, genetic and discontented behaviour, unrelenting sexual and emotional craving. Infidelity is an outcome of fading ambience, dislike, despair, humiliation, loneliness and etc. No adult person can escape the attraction of opposite sex, it influences our mind to admire and capitulate towards the quality. Some attractions are too strong to influence us to get involved emotionally despite married life; this involvement of extra marital is named by the society as infidelity. Woman too is human, she too has feelings and her body chemicals too react by mental signals when comes in contact with attractive person. She too perceives the virtues of attraction and imagines relating with, but in many occasions her conscious prevents getting involved observing the danger of family and social consequences. In developed countries she has rights to leave the partner for better. But when she keeps two philanders simultaneously becomes offence and is extra marital relation. Most marriages in rural and urban developing countries are arranged by parents. Both would be partners are unknown to each other. In our religious fundamental world woman is a second citizen so has to live with the person loaded on her. Womans role is to maintain home, taking care of children and at night to act as sexual toy, beyond these if she thinks is an offence which society can to tolerate. Woman has to accept all the terms and conditions of the male partner. If the partner is disgusting still she has to live under his cruelty, undependability and humiliation. She has no other choice as religious and social rights are curtailed; she suppresses her desires and dreams of married life and consoles as this is her fate. For her life on earth is the penalty for sins she committed in her previous birth. Even Government laws can not protect them as social and its religious laws are more effective. If she wants to live in the society she has to obey the social compulsions. She can not leave the unmatched and seek partner of own choice because it is religious crime. If likes other man of own choice the only way-out for her is to make affair in her dreams. Fear of repentance is so dominant that she is scared even to dream the liking person. If by mistake the pre marital love affair is disclosed becomes humiliating for whole life. It is beyond imagination of her man to accept as her past relation hurts his dignity and pride for not having virgin woman as a wife. She has to succeed the test of virginity in the first night of marriage. If she fails is either sent back to the parents blaming her impurity or left to suffer for whole life. Whether developed or undeveloped or religious fundamental country, woman is human she too possesses the sentiments and desire to look attractive to be liked by others. Woman by nature are very much conscious about their look is the natures law and the sense behind this is to look attractive. The attraction is an enticement to men to act in order to lure women for physical contact. Some women escape keeping the social obligations in mind and some get lured to initiate relation. Attraction is such an enticement that some fall victim to it. Most control in fear of social consequences by suppressing their craving. Yet with some, emotions overpower so get involved unconsciously for emotional attachment. Impact of social obligations is too strong in religion dominated countries that she is made to repent for her involvement. She is desecrated by the society for violating social norms and becomes hatred for family and society. She becomes evil and treatment is in accordance to her status: First she looses is the emotional attachment in the family with whom she felt comfortable. In case she despised, she may feel internally punishing the partner but externally she is still helpless and needs a home to live, as she can not live alone in this unsecured world. She suffers when the truth comes out to deteriorate her married life, makes her life hell. She comes under threats, violence and humiliation from husband/partner. Her secret love affairs for craving is unbearable to the religion so she is punished and desecrated to set an example so others do not go for such conduct. Dependant woman looses her economic security and safety. Society and its religion quarantine her to discourage participation and involvement in social activities. Suspicion of husband/partner as father of her children becomes humiliation to her. She suffers identity crisis. Psychotic Depression

By Milos Pesic Depression does not only let you feel sorry for yourself, but also it can make you see, hear things, and think illogically. They are not losing their minds, but rather they are what you call people with psychotic depression. Approximately over 20 % of people who are admitted to the hospital for depression state suffer from what is called psychotic depression. On top of the depressive symptoms of depression, psychotic depression also include some psychosis features such as hallucinations, seeing and hearing things that arent present or delusions, irrational thoughts and fears, which most patients with mental condition are suffering from. The difference between psychotic depression and other mental condition, such as schizophrenia, is that although they are experiencing the same symptoms, which are the hallucination and delusion, the ones with psychotic depression usually know that the thoughts theyre having arent exactly real. In other words, they may suffer from these symptoms, but also they are well aware that those are not true. The main reason why this type of depression is difficult to diagnose is because sufferers of this condition maybe ashamed or embarrassed about what they are going through and therefore would choose to hide them instead. Having a single occurrence of psychotic depression can increase your risk of bipolar depression, recurring episodes of psychotic depression, and worse suicide. That is why you should be aware of possible symptoms of this type of depression. Here are some of the symptoms of psychotic depression that anyone may experience: Anxiety Agitation Psychosis Physical immobility Constipation Intellectual impairment Insomnia, and more Since there are worst scenarios of how things will turn out with psychotic depression, immediate attention and treatment should be given to the patient. The treatment for this type of depression may take a longer stay in the hospital and close follow up by a mental health professional to keep track of the recovery progress. Anti-depressants and anti-psychotic medications have been known to effectively alleviate the symptoms and are still widely used, but natural remedies can also be taken into consideration to help speed up the recovery. The natural remedies I am referring to include proper diet, which requires eating anti-depression food, daily intake of multivitamins and anti-depressant vitamins, such as B vitamins; exercise; avoid foods that can aggravate your condition, like coffee and sweets. Treatment is very effective for people with psychotic depression condition. Usually within a year, one can recover from this sickness, but needs to continue medical follow-ups. Also, be aware that if symptoms of psychotic depression has been experienced and determined, proper treatment must be established as in other major depressive illnesses; otherwise, risk of suicide is great. Garage Sells Are Fun

By John T Jones, Ph.D. Purpose: Families need to do things together. Just visiting garage sales can be fun for the family, and having your own garage sale can bring in some needed cash. In this lesson, we will show you how to have a garage sale and even how to put you in the business. You can use the money for your needs, such as an education fund, or you can donate it to charity. Following is a little poem I wrote years back: Saturday Morning The garage sales open at seven,
So we get up at six.
We eat a hearty breakfast,
Then jump into the truck lickity split. With newspaper in hand,
And watching for garage sale signs,
We zip around our little town
Looking for that gold mine. Perhaps we'll find a new gold watch
That only cost a buck.
We might find a first edition of the Bible
If we have a little luck. We always fill the truck to the top.
From seven 'til noon, we never stop.
Then we sort our treasures in our yard.
Now, that wasn't all that hard. But what can we do with all this junk?
Why did we buy that Chinese bunk?
Well, no problems come our way.
We'll sell it ourselves next Saturday. The Lesson: The Garage Sale is a social institution. The garage sale is the big thing in our small town. What else is there to do on a Saturday morning? Most of the garage sales are simply a one time thing, but some of them are actually small businesses and the owners keep them maintained in a permanent location such as their basement, barn, or garage. It's an important source of income to them. Families often join together for yard sales. I have edited and reproduced an article here to help you have a more successful yard sale. (I have the rights to this article.) GARAGE SALE PROMOTING FOR QUICK EASY MONEY Pick almost any city or town in the country, drive through any middle class neighborhood or residential area on the weekend, and you're sure to spot at least a half dozen garage sales. What's being sold at these garage sales? It is the accumulated junks that people no longer use or want taking up space. Are they making any money with these garage sales? It's not at all uncommon to make $600 with a weekend garage sale. Is it hard to put on a profitable garage sale? Well, yes and no. It takes some of your time, and it also requires an awareness of a few merchandising tactics. But the problems in running a successful garage sale are small in comparison to the profits. Who are the buyers, and how do you get them to come to your garage sale? Your customers are going to be everybody, and you get them over to your garage sale with advertising and promotion. Let's look at the background: Everybody accumulates the kind of garage sale item that other people are searching for and are willing to buy. These items range from no longer wanted or outgrown items of clothing to furniture, tools, knickknacks, books, pictures and toys. Many garage sale items are objects of merchandise purchased on impulse, and later found to be not what the buyer wanted. It was discovered that he or she really didn't have a use for it, or no longer had a need for it. Many items found at garage sales are gifts that have been given to the seller, but are the wrong size or incorrect choice for the recipient. You can generate an enterprise of an ongoing garage sale. You might sell some items donated and collected from people who lack the inclination to put on garage sales of their own. You take a percentage of their sales. Some of these items may be
those you purchased at other garage sales or that you dug out of grandmothers barn. Step one is education: Visit the garage sales, swap meets and flea markets in your area. Find out what's being offered for sale, what people are buying, and how the merchandise is being sold. Generally an item is tagged with a price, but the seller is open to almost any reasonable offer from the customer. Another thing you want to make mental note of is the way the merchandise is displayed, and how the customers are allowed to browse. You start your own garage sale by cleaning out your own basement, attic, closets and garage. Talk to your relatives and friends; tell them what you're going to do and ask them for donations of no longer used or unwanted items. It's here that you'll get your first experience in negotiating and finally, an agreement for you to display and sell other people's merchandise for a percentage of the sales price. You'll find people explaining that they really don't have a use for a specific item or they really don't want to keep storing it, but because of sentimental reasons just hate to give it away. Once you've had a little experience with this type of seller, you will be able to advertise in the newspaper that you
buy garage sale items, or take them on consignment for a percentage of the final sales price. The advertising angle is really quite simple. Does your local radio station take calls for yard sales or for items for sale? Call them. You should run an ad in your area shopper newspaper for about three days in advance of, and up through the day of your sale. But in getting started, go with small classified ads simply announcing your garage sale, emphasizing major items with cost and major categories. To get ideas on how to write your ad, check your news paper and cut out all the garage sale ads you can find and tape them on a piece of paper. Then, with a bit of critical analysis, you'll be able to determine how to write a good ad of your own by determining the good and the bad in the ads you've collected. Something to remember: The bigger and better your sale, the bigger and better your "getting started" ads should be. And the secret to obtaining outstanding garage sale profits is in having the widest or largest selection of merchandise. You should have made an old-fashioned sandwich board sign to display in front of your house when your garage sale is open for business. This will pull in your neighbors, if you haven't already informed them, and attract the people driving by. Sandwich boards are sometimes set out at key traffic intersections not far from the site of the garage sale, to attract attention and point the way. (Check local ordinances to see if this is permitted in your area.) Be sure to check your local ordinances before you start nailing signs to power poles.
Search out and use all the free bulletin boards in your area. It's better, and usually much more profitable, to take the time to make up an attention grabbing circular you can post on these bulletin boards. An 8.5" x 11" poster made on your computer should suffice. Always answer the questions where? what? when? Inside secrets for maximum profits. First, call attention to your sale. Don't be shy, bashful or self-conscious about letting everybody for miles about
know that you're having a garage sale. Some sharp operators do the next best thing to having the Goodyear blimp overhead: They rent miniature blimps, send them up above the housetops, and tether them there on their sale days. Of course this giant balloon or miniature blimp has some sort of sign on the side of it, inviting people to your garage sale! This is one of the strongest available advertising ideas for pulling "traffic" to a sale of any kind. For more details, write to Pie-In-The-Sky Company, PO Box 5267, San Mateo, CA 94402. Second, you have to give your sale some flair. Put some posts up across the front of your property and run some twisted crepe paper between them. Even better than crepe paper, run brightly colored ribbons. Invest in some colorful pennants and fly them from temporary flagpoles. And don't forget the balloons! Make your garage sale a fun kind of event with clusters of balloons anchored to your display tables and racks. Be sure to "float" them well above the heads of your customers as
they are browsing through your merchandise displays. Cover your display tables with colorful cloths. Don't hesitate to use bright colors with busy patterns. Regardless of what you sell, effective display is still predominantly essential! Take time to organize your displays. You can't "dump" items haphazardly on a table, sit down, and expect to realize great profits. The people doing the most business and making the most sales are the ones with interesting displays, action and color. Try to have as wide a selection of colors as possible in your clothing racks, and mix them for a rainbow effect. Make sure that your jewelry items shine and sparkle. Arrange them in and with jewelry boxes, jewelry ladders and other items sold for the purpose of showing off jewelry while keeping it neatly organized. (And keep your eye on it. There are thieves at every garage sell.) We know one lady that regularly arranges jewelry items in a battery operated lazy susan. Seeing this jewelry slowly turning on the lazy susan never fails to draw attention. Think about it, and then study the methods of display used by "rack jobbers" in the stores in your area. These are the wire racks that usually hold card-packaged items. This kind of display rack would lend itself beautifully for anchoring a cluster of balloons. Keep these things in mind, and build your individual displays as part of the whole; make it pleasing to the eye as well as convenient for your customers to browse through and select the items that appeal to them. Get an eye grabber. Look for some kind of interesting and unusual item to call attention to your salesomething you can set up or park in front of your home during your sale. Some of the displays we've seen along these lines include a horse-drawn surrey, a restored Model T, and an old farm plow. But anything of an unusual and interesting nature will do the trick for you. One couple we know put up a display using a mannequin dressed in an old-time farm bonnet, long dress and apron. The display depicted a farm woman of old, washing clothes with a scrub board and two steel wash tubs. You have to believe this drew crowds and made people talk! Try to be distinctive. Wherever your imagination takes you, you have to be different and distinctive, or you'll get lost in the hundreds of garage sales going on all around you. If you'll take the time to employ a bit of imagination and set your sales up with the kind of flair we've been talking about, you'll not just draw the crowds, you'll end up being the one holding the most profits. Conclusion It's a compulsion of many women to go shopping, to search for interesting and sometimes rare and valuable items. This fact alone will keep you as busy as you'll ever want to be - staging and holding garage sales. The market is so vast, and the appetite so varied, that anything from a brass bedstead to a used diary of somebody's long-for-gotten grandmother will sell,
and sell fast at garage sales. Put it all together, use a little imagination and you'll easily make all the money you want! End of Canned Article on Garage Sales Here's what I do when I have a yard sale. First, I make sure it is a good garage sale day with lots of garage sales around. That way, I don't need to worry about traffic. I put my junk out in the driveway and block my garage so that the crooks can't get in there without me shooting them. I take a big black marking pen and write "SALE 213" on a piece of cardboard. I tack that to a pole at the top of my street. Folks come up the street looking for "213." When the folks come, I sell! There are professional yard sellers in our town. I'm not one of them. But I like the fun of a sale. For The Children Paco looked out the window. It was a school holiday and it was raining. "Mom, what can I do? It's raining." His little sister, Regina, said, "What are we going to do, Paco? We can't go out in this rain." Mother came into the room. "Well, children, I have an idea. Why don't you go up to your rooms and get your old clothing and toys. Then go out into the garage and see what is there that we can sell at a garage sale next Saturday. We will take the money we earn and go out to dinner and to a movie. Won't that be fun?" This made the children very happy and they ran off to their rooms. Paco found an old train in his room that he never used anymore. Regina found a dress that didn't fit her now. The children gathered up the items and brought them downstairs. Then they went into the garage and found some more items they could sell, including some of Daddy's tools. When Daddy came home from work, he pushed the auto door opener and saw the children in the garage. There were things everywhere and Daddy could not drive into the garage. He parked in the driveway and ran from the car into the garage. He was all wet and not too happy. He said, "What are you kids up to now? Clean this mess up so I can get the car out of the rain." Regina said, "Daddy, we are having a garage sale on Saturday. The car will have to stay in the driveway. It needs a good washing anyway." Father laughed. "So that's what you are up to! I guess that was your idea, Paco." Mother came into the garage from the house. "Actually, it was my idea. The kids needed something to do. We are going to take the money we earn and go out to dinner and to a movie." On Saturday, the sun was shining and many people came to the garage sale. Paco said, "What are we going to do with the extra money? We have much more than we need for dinner and a movie." Regina's big brown eyes sparkled. "I know what we can do with the extra money. We can buy some paint and paint Mrs. Green's porch. She gave me a cookie yesterday and said that she would like to paint the porch, but that she would have to wait until her ship came in. I don't think she has a ship. She just doesn't have enough money for paint." Mother beamed. "Why that's a wonderful idea, Regina. You are so thoughtful. Don't you think so, Daddy?" Daddy answered, "I'm proud of you, Regina, for being so considerate. We will buy the paint and next Saturday we
will paint Mrs. Green's porch. Won't that be fun, Paco?" Paco laughed. "Well, I was going to suggest that we buy a fishing boat." Daddy smiled. "That sounds like a good idea too, doesn't it Regina?" Regina gave them a look that would make an ostrich dig two holes for it's head instead of one. While Mother was laughing, Paco said, "Oh, we'll be painting Mrs. Green's porch next Saturday, Regina." Daddy said, "Well, we can have another garage sale some time for the fishing boat." The next Saturday, they painted Mrs. Green porch. Can you guess what color they painted it? 125% Equity Home Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Levetta_Rivera]Levetta Rivera If you are a homeowner in need of a home equity loan but you have not yet built up any equity in your home, don't despair. A 125 percent equity home loan may be the answer. A 125 percent equity home loan is a second mortgage loan that allows you to borrow up to 25% more than the value of your home. For example, if your home is worth $100,000 and you owe $100,000 on the mortgage, this loan program would allow you to still borrow up to $25,000. The 125 percent equity home loan is offered by various online lenders. Each lender has their own qualification and loan term guidelines but generally this is a credit score driven loan program. Credit score driven means that you have to have a certain credit score to qualify for the loan. In addition, your credit score usually determines the maximum loan amount you may qualify for and the maximum cash in hand you may receive. Also, some 125 percent equity home loan lenders may require seasoning on the length of time you have lived in your home. Three months is normally the minimum. When it comes to a property appraisal, most 125 percent home equity loan lenders do not require you to obtain one. They generally will use the purchase price of your home as the value if you have lived in your residence for 12 months or less. If you have lived in your home over 12 months, a recent tax assessment, simple drive-by appraisal, or automated value model (avm) can be used. An avm is a computer generated assessment of your home's value which is based on recent home sales of comparable houses in your neighborhood.
